Call for Workshop Proposals

Overview

The European Dependable Computing Conference (EDCC) is a unique venue for researchers and practitioners to present and discuss their latest ideas and results on theory, experiments, techniques, systems and tools for the design, validation, operation and evaluation of dependable and secure computing systems.

EDCC workshops provide a forum for presenting novel ideas, exchanging opinions, and discussing preliminary results in a friendly and interactive environment. They also serve as incubators for specific communities in dependable and secure computing with common research interests and goals, and to enable discussions and information sharing between academics and industry researchers and practitioners. Traditionally, the workshops precede the main conference and can be a half-day or one-day event.

The workshops are expected to cover dependability and security topics, but may span beyond.

Workshop papers publication — Proceedings

Accepted workshop papers are offered to be included in the conference supplemental proceedings.

The workshop organizers must specify in the proposal submission if they wish to opt for (i) accepted workshop papers to be published in the conference supplemental proceedings or (ii) other form of publication (e.g, arXiv, HAL). The option selected by the organizers will apply to all the papers of the workshop. If the workshop opts for other form of publication, the workshop organizers will be responsible for the publication process and need to make sure that the material is available on-line and reachable before the event.

In any case, the selection of the papers must follow a competitive peer review process.

Proposal submission and Evaluation

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit a proposal including the following:

  1. Title and acronym of the proposed workshop;
  2. A 150- to 200-word abstract (suitable for the conference website and dissemination);
  3. Selection of the publication option for accepted papers: (i) conference supplemental proceedings or (ii) other form of publication (please specify);
  4. Themes, goals, topics and relevance to the EDCC community;
  5. Information about the procedure for selecting papers;
  6. Plans for dissemination and publication;
  7. Expected number of papers and participants;
  8. Preferred format: (i) half-day event or (ii) one-day event;
  9. Information about the previous editions of the same workshop (if any), number of papers they attracted, average number of participants;
  10. Names and brief bios of the organizers, including their past experience (not mandatory) in organizing workshops and/or conferences in the field.

Submission: Proposals should not exceed 3 pages in PDF format and must be sent by email to the EDCC 2027 workshop chair: Tommaso Zoppi (tommaso.zoppi@unifi.it).

Evaluation: Items above are all important for evaluation, especially items 4, 5, 7, 9.

Workshop organization

If the proposal is accepted, the workshop organizers must create their own website for the workshop, which will be linked to the EDCC website. The workshop organizers are responsible for setting up an international Technical Program Committee (TPC), independent of the main conference. Organizers may select TPC chair(s) or chair the TPC themselves.

Responsibilities of the workshop organizers and TPC chairs also include: preparing and spreading a call for papers, attracting high-quality submissions, setting up the paper submission system, managing the reviews and paper selection process, defining the workshop program, assembling the material needed for the proceedings (conference supplemental proceedings option) or handling the publication process and making the material accessible before the event (other form of publication).
